Hlanganisa Community Fund for Social and Gender Justice is an intermediary grant maker that channels funding to the grassroots level. Our work is aimed at contributing towards achieving social justice through enhancing the capacity of community-based organisations, promoting human rights and equity, and fostering agency and cohesion in communities. We focus on access to justice, gender justice and women’s leadership development and climate change and energy justice.

This role is about securing sustainable funding for Hlanganisa in line with its strategic objectives.

  • Develop fundraising strategy & ensure effective implementation
  • Create visibility through effective communications
  • Develop proposals
  • Engage with donors and  build sustainable relationships
  • Monitor, evaluate and report
  • Achieve targets set for financial sustainability

Formal Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in a relevant field

You probably have

  • Strong track record of meeting fundraising targets in a senior fundraising role.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to generate income. 
  • Direct experience of fundraising via trusts/foundations/government and intermediary grant funding
  • Considerable experience in stakeholder management, donor relations and partnerships
  • Previous work experience (approx. 7 years plus) in the NGO sector, working with donors and government and CBOs
  • Established network of government, NGO, community and funding agencies
  • Demonstrable experience developing successful partnership/funding agreements
  • Innovative approach to partnership development: creative collaborative and sustainable outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of funding cycles, grant management, and donor engagement
  • Thought leadership on funding and philanthropy
