RFP: Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC - Community Model Project
Request for Proposals: Implementation of the Community Model project in Harry Gwala, King Cetshwayo and uGu Districts in KwaZulu-Natal
for the period 1 January 2025 to 30 September 2025.
Maternal, Adolescent and Child Health Institute NPC (Registration 2018/590201/08) is an indigenous South African not-for-profit organisation based in Durban in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) province. MatCH is recognised globally for its ability to deliver large-scale, high-quality HIV and ART services in low cost and low technology environments, while building health systems capacity. MatCH’s vision is an effective, sustainable, and equitable health system.
MatCH provides funds under the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement Community Model in three Districts in KwaZulu-Natal: namely, Harry Gwala, King Cetshwayo and uGu Districts. MatCH is looking to contract 16 Community Based Organisations on a fixed performance-based contract (Fixed Amount Award) to implement the Community Model.
Specific Programme Overview
The Community Based Organisations will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Community mobilization and demand creation for the HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB), Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) programs.
- Increase access to and provision of services for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence through screening and referral.
- Accelerate prevention to reduce new HIV Infections by supporting HIV Self-Screening (HIVSS) and preventative programmes
- Conduct community screening for Tuberculosis (TB) screening, Index Contact Tracing and referral for further management
- Implement social and behaviour change campaigns including U=U campaign in the respective communities
- Improve linkage to care through tracking and tracing for Pre-ART, treatment interrupters and viral load due patients
- Establish support groups to improve adherence and support for People Living with HIV (PLHIV)
- Facilitate establishment and scale-up of Adherence Clubs to improve retention in HIV and TB care
Eligibility critera
MatCH invites suitably qualified and experienced community-based organisations to apply for this opportunity. The call is open to suitably registered South African organisations (e.g. Community based, Faith-based, or not for profit organisations).
