Financial and Accounting Services
Financial Planning, Reporting and Monitoring
Financial fitness and health come through effective planning both in the short term and in the long term.
We assist with:
- Planning and budgeting
- Cash flow forecasting
- Financial sustainability
- Annual financial statements (compilation and Accounting Officer for NPO Act purposes)
- Financial reports
- Funding proposals
If your organisation does not have the resources to employ a financial manager, we offer ongoing financial management support relating to the effective planning, reporting and monitoring of financial and other resources.
Ziyo consultants have specialist NPO experience and are able to advise and support organisations, and their funders.
Reviews and Interventions
Ziyo can address the concerns that funders, governing bodies and/or staff members have about the effectiveness of the organisation’s financial management and compliance with regular, periodic or once-off reviews.
We also conduct assessments of accounting records, systems, financial reports, funding proposals and organisational structures – either for the non-profit itself or on behalf of funders.
- Internal auditing
- Monthly/quarterly review
- Error correction
- Fixing incomplete records or systems breakdowns
Bookkeeping & Payroll
Outsourced or in-house bookkeeping using leading accounting applications, spreadsheets and experienced bookkeepers. We are Xero and Sage Business Cloud Accounting partners.
Payroll administration can be complex and is frequently changing as new legislation is introduced and SARS strengthens compliance. Ziyo’s payroll administration results in accurate payroll reports, payslips, EMP201s, EMP501s and IRP5s based on the current tax legislation.
Ziyo can also register an organisation with DOEL and COID, and submit annual returns to COID.
-
Tax Advice & Compliance
- Advice and opinions on tax benefits and compliance for non profits, including how to structure a social enterprise.
- We help public benefit organisations to submit Income Tax Act compliant income tax returns.
- Registration for VAT and the calculation of pre-registration input tax claims
- Preparation of annual IRP5’s and related reconciliations
- Submission of monthly EMP201 returns and the bi-annual EMP501 returns on e-filing
- Advice on tax treatment of medical aid, pension fund and retirement annuity contributions
- Processing of the monthly payroll based on current tax legislation

Ziyo
You will find our clients working in deep rural areas, in boisterous townships, across our continent and in centres of power all over the world. They are challenging injustice, inequality and unfairness; they are bringing peace, hope and reconciliation; they are walking alongside agents of change, people of vision and broken spirits with great potential.
